Birth Doula

Birthing From Within Mentor

Birth Story Listener

My mission as your doula is to:

Cultivate an
Atmosphere of
Respect and

as I walk alongside you on your birth journey.

I am a birth doula and Birth Story Listener in the Houston, TX area. I offer in-person and virtual support options to meet a variety of family circumstances and budgets.

There is power in making informed choices, and I am committed to supporting the decisions that you make for yourself and your family.

I am currently expecting Baby #3 and am taking a short break from accepting doula clients. I am always happy to recommend doulas I have worked with and love! I also highly recommend visiting and finding several doulas you'd like to interview. Consultations are usually free!

In light of COVID-19 and the challenge of finding affordable and available childbirth education classes, I am making my Preparing for Birth packet available for free for any who can benefit from it! I give this packet to all of my doula clients as well as to all of my childbirth classes.

Please feel free to download and use for yourself, and pass on to anyone who can use it!

About Me

I am a birth doula and birth story listener serving families in Houston, TX, and beyond. I am passionate about assisting new parents as they wade through the endless flood of information about birth, and prepare for the challenges that a new baby brings. I have two children and have personally experienced both medicated and unmedicated births. I also have extensive experience with breastfeeding, formula feeding, babywearing, cloth diapering, disposable diapering, and lack of sleep, and am happy to share knowledge in any of these areas. Parenthood is a journey like nothing else! I believe strongly in unconditional support, and that is what I pledge to my clients.

Whether or not you and I end up on this journey together, I wish you the very best as you embrace this new step in your life!

The word doula comes from the Greek word meaning servant. A birth doula provides emotional and physical support for labor and birth. She is a constant presence by your side, helping to make sure you understand your options so you can make decisions regarding your care. Studies have shown that doula-supported births have lower c-section rates, a reduced desire for pain medications, fewer interventions, and an improved birth experience overall.

  • Helps you think about your options and preferences before labor begins
  • Uses comfort techniques to help you cope with labor - massage, guided relaxation, encouragement, heat/cold, & more
  • Assists your partner in supporting you in labor
  • Supports your decisions for birth, and assists you in achieving the best possible birth experience for you
  • Helps you adjust to necessary or unexpected changes in your birth plan
  • Helps initiate breastfeeding
  • Helps you process the birth experience afterwards

  • A doula does NOT make decisions for you, or judge you for the decisions that you make
  • A doula does NOT give medical advice
  • A doula does NOT do cervical checks or vaginal exams
  • A doula does NOT speak for you
  • A doula does NOT shut your partner out or take his/her place
  • A doula does NOT leave you alone at any time; any breaks she does take are very brief
  • A doula does NOT guarantee a particular outcome, but she will help you navigate any unexpected changes or difficult circumstances with evidence-based options

A virtual doula is a great option for families who may not want the physical presence of another person in the birth room but still want access to the kind of support and resources that a doula provides, or for families who live in an area where it's difficult to find a doula. I offer these services at a fraction of my in-person doula fee, so it can also be a good option for families who are on a tight budget and can't afford the full fee for in-person doula support.

While there is strong evidence for having a doula physically by your side during labor, this is not always feasible for every family and situation. Your preparation ahead of time and the work we do together during pregnancy goes a long way towards setting you up for the best possible birth outcome!

I am trained as a Birthing From Within mentor, and my classes are based on the Birthing From Within model. We talk a great deal about not just physical preparation and birth options, but also preparing emotionally and mentally, navigating challenges, exploring relationships, seeing birth as a journey, and stepping into the unknown. The class is designed to equip you not just for birth, but for parenting, family, and life. Upcoming dates will be posted here, or you can contact me for info. Private classes are also available.

Every few months, I offer a one-day free community childbirth class in north Houston (locations vary). Check back here or contact me for upcoming class dates.

While your birth may have resulted in a healthy baby and a physically healthy mother, the impact of emotional birth trauma can affect bonding, self-confidence, and day-to-day living. Sometimes the birth story veered far from the birth plan, but even positive birth experiences can result in emotional trauma - maybe it was a certain look, maybe something that was said in the birth room, maybe an expectation that wasn't met. This healing session takes about one hour and is designed to help you process your birth experience in a positive, healthy way.

From time to time I offer group processing sessions based on the Birth Story Listening model. Contact me to let me know you're interested and find out about upcoming sessions.

One of my favorite things to do is to mentor new doulas. While I don't currently offer an opportunity to shadow at births, I am happy to meet in person or by phone or video call to discuss some best practices, helpful tips, and things that have served to help me along my own journey, as well as to answer questions or talk about challenges you're facing. It is so crucial especially after your first few births that you have someone to process your experience with, and I am more than happy to be that listening ear and sounding board for you. I am in your corner, cheering you on!

I charge $25/hour for phone visits and video calls, and $30/hour for in-person mentoring visits.

I book a limited number of clients per month to ensure that I am able to give each client my full attention. Once I've received your deposit, you will be reserved on my calendar.

Contact me to schedule a free consultation! I would love to talk about supporting you on your  journey.
